WELCOME BACK EEK-A-MOUSE TO THE FAST LANE INTERNATIONAL ROSTER

After a three-decade hiatus, Eek-A-Mouse returns to Fast Lane for representation and booking!

Born Ripton Hylton on November 19, 1957, in Kingston, Jamaica, Eek-A-Mouse is celebrated as one of reggae’s most unique and irreverent talents. Standing at an impressive 6 feet 6 inches, his towering presence is matched by his distinctive musical style, which has made him an international phenomenon beyond the traditional bounds of reggae. Eek-A-Mouse’s journey began during his college years when he released two roots reggae singles under his own name. He then worked for various sound systems and adopted the stage name "Eek-A-Mouse" in 1979, inspired by a racehorse he frequently bet on. That same year, he achieved success with the hit "Once a Virgin," followed by "Wa-Do-Dem" and "Modelling Queen," launching his association with Linval Thompson and the release of his debut album, Bubble Up Yu Hip.

By the early 1980s, Eek-A-Mouse had teamed up with producer Henry "Junjo" Lawes, producing a string of hits including "Virgin Girl," "Wild Like a Tiger," "For Hire and Removal," and "Ganja Smuggling." His performances at the 1981 Reggae Sunsplash Festival solidified his status as a reggae icon, captivating audiences mourning the loss of Bob Marley. Over the years, he released landmark albums such as Wa Do Dem (1982), Skidip (1982), The Mouse and the Man (1983), and Mouseketeer (1984), with his music often blending social commentary with humor and originality.

In the mid-1980s, Eek-A-Mouse’s career expanded internationally with the release of The Assassinator (1985) in the United States and The King and I in the UK. His 1988 album Eek-A-Nomics included the club hit "The Freak," paving the way for his signing with Island Records in 1989. His rock-influenced U-Neek album in 1991 further showcased his versatility, featuring a reggae-infused cover of Led Zeppelin’s "D'yer Mak'er" and the hit single "You're the One I Need."

Eek-A-Mouse remains a fixture in the reggae world, frequently performing at festivals like Reggae Sunsplash, Rototom, and collaborating with many artists. After a period of quiet, he returned with the 1996 Black Cowboy album and performed in Jamaica in 2015 for the first time in eight years at the Marcus Garvey Festival in Ocho Rios.

Despite being removed from the early '80s dancehall scene that initially catapulted him to fame, The Mouse—as he fondly calls himself—remains ever-evolving and relevant. "I’m Mouse, you know? I’m Mouse, so I can change my style any time. There’s different reggae now … hip-hop, dance, regular reggae. Just like Eek-A-Mouse. I’m also unique, you know? Different."
