Roots Revealers

Armed with music and culture from Kingston, Jamaica, and with roots in the Hill Country of Texas, the contrasting voices of Chris and Josh Mundahl create the one-of-a-kind sound of Roots Revealers. In 2005, “Babylon Crumbling” was recorded at Anchor Studio in Kingston, on the “Have Mercy” rhythm played by the Firehouse Crew with Dean Fraser. Soon thereafter, they followed up with “Dancehall Vibes” with the Tamlins, and “Balance & Level”, an energetic combination featuring Fanton Mojah.

Roots Revealers were invited to make their debut appearance for thousands of onlookers at the 8th Annual Spring Break event at Long Beach, Negril, where they performed “No More Killing”, later released as a combination with one of roots reggae’s biggest names, Sizzla Kalonji. In 2008 the singers linked up with musicians from the Manning family, sons of Donald Manning of the Abyssinians and began work on their first album. After being chosen from the highly competitive, island wide talent search, known as the Art of Music Initiative, they performed at the prestigious Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Fest ’08, headlined by Diana Ross and Billy Ocean. A month later they were invited back to perform at the 9th Annual Spring Break event, “…The white group Roots Revealers of Texas, USA showed true class,…” said the X-News, and the Star declared:“…American brothers Roots Revealers were among those who shined bright during their time in the spotlight,..” Showing their diversity, they have also recorded various dancehall songs, including “Weh Dem A Try”, featuring Vybz Kartel and mixed by Stephen McGregor. In 2009 Roots Revealers released their much anticipated debut album, giving a personal look into this young group at their best.
