Leon and The Peoples Band is New York City’s hottest
up-and-coming ‘reggae-soul’ band. Led by multi-talented actor and
singer/songwriter Leon, the band has been performing live nationwide and
developing their signature sound as well as a loyal fan-base for the
past 2 years. The Peoples Band features top-notch musical talent, high-energy live
performances and a commitment to sharing the reggae-soul sound and
spirit with a worldwide audience
Leon, actor and singer/songwriter starred Disney’s million dollar
blockbuster “Cool Runnings.” His versatility as a performer is
manifested in his most recent project; the touring stage version of Eric
Jerome Dickey’s “Friends and Lovers”. In 2003, Leon was seen on the big
screen in the Miramax Film, “Buffalo Soldiers” and Merchant/Ivory’s
“Side Streets” directed by Tony Gerber. Leon has also appeared on
television with a re-occurring role on NBC’s, “Crossing Jordan” as well
as the HBO series “Oz”. Leon’s passion for music was first shared with
fans as he portrayed singer David Ruffin in the award winning “The
Temptations” and Little Richard in both “The Little Richard Story” and
“The Five Heartbeats”. Leon made his singing debut playing a reggae
singer in “The Price of Kissing” in which he sang a memorable reggae
rendition of “Daddy’s Home”.
Leon has been featured on BET’s “106th and Park”, where he headlined the
concert in Central Park celebrating the NYC AIDS WALK (2003 – 2005).
Leon and The Peoples Band performed at NYC Summer Stage and The
International Music and Arts Festival in New Orleans, LA. as well as
numerous other Reggae festivals from coast to coast.
Leon has been a presenter at the BET awards and is a two-time NAACP
Image Award nominee.
