In the words of Beethoven, “Music should strike fire
from the heart of man, and bring tears from the eyes of a woman.” This
quote quite accurately describes what Glen Washington has done with his
multiple hit songs that you cannot listen to without being tugged at the
heartstrings in a merciful way. Albeit he has wended his way overnight
into the hearts of reggae zealots around the world with hits such as
“Please Me”, “Jah Glory” and “Can’t Keep A Good Man Down” among the
list. His memorable path from Joe Gibbs studio in tropical Kingston,
Jamaica, where he made his first hit “Rockers no Crackers” over 20 years
ago, to the hot and sometimes glacially cold cities of Detroit, Toronto
and New York, has been truly wrenching and emphatic. However, after four
years of unprecedented success in the touring world, a tremendously vast
catalog of songs that run the gamut from political, social, spiritual,
cultural and even auto-biographical titles that highlight his ups and
downs in this highly competitive music industry, Glen is coming into his
own.
With 13 full-length albums to his credit and an unknown aggregate of
singles to his resume from 1997 to now, Glen is presently enjoying the
wonderful moments of glory!
New album releases and other projects will continue to keep Glen in the
public eye and add to his ever growing popularity.
